I recently photographed a December family session at Lake Pflugerville Park, a beautiful and easily accessible location north of Austin.

This park is especially convenient for families living in Pflugerville, Round Rock, Cedar Park, and other North Austin areas, as the parking area is close to the main photo spots, making it an easy and stress-free option for family sessions.

One of the unique features of Lake Pflugerville Park is its sandy shoreline, which gives the lake an almost beach-like feel. It offers a variety of beautiful backdrops in one location, including the wooden deck, sandy areas by the water, and surrounding trees. This variety allows for a relaxed session with different looks without a lot of walking.

The weather was a bit uncertain on the day of this session, but just in time, the clouds cleared and we were treated to soft golden hour light. Although it was slightly chilly, the family did an amazing job, and their warmth and connection made the session incredibly fun and memorable.

I highly recommend evening sessions at Lake Pflugerville Park, especially close to sunset, when the light is gentle and flattering. It’s a wonderful choice for families looking for a calm outdoor location with a unique lakeside atmosphere, without traveling far from home.
